FAQ
We’ve highlighted a few of the commonly asked questions we hear from our clients.
Should you have any questions about Rebel Sleep Institute – whether related to fatigue, sleep apnea, sleep diagnostics, treatments, or something else – we’d love to hear from you.
DO I NEED A PRESCRIPTION FOR A HOME SLEEP APNEA TEST?
We fully respect and encourage the involvement of the primary care physician and as a result, we require a prescription for home sleep apnea testing. While some companies within the industry facilitate testing without the inclusion of a physician, and this can save some time, we feel it is not in your best interest to do so. There are many causes of fatigue, some of which must be managed by your physician.
Rebel will support efforts to obtain a prescription should you require some assistance. Please note, home sleep apnea testing is only suitable for diagnosing sleep apnea in select provinces. Contact Rebel below to learn more.
DOES REBEL SLEEP INSTITUTE PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT?
In addition to supporting client efforts to obtain insurance coverage for Rebel services, Rebel also provides flexible payment terms and other options, to ensure financial restrictions do not prevent each client from obtaining the treatment and support they require.
Please contact Rebel or speak with your therapist to learn more.
DO ORAL APPLIANCES EFFECTIVELY TREAT SLEEP APNEA?
According to the first official joint guideline from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), oral appliance therapy is recommended for the treatment of adult patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who are intolerant of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy or prefer alternate therapy. CPAP therapy is still the first-line option for treating OSA, however, Oral Appliance Therapy may be suitable for some clients.
Rebel Sleep Institute does not make treatment determination as we rely on direction from our independent sleep specialists to guide treatment decisions, ensuring a transparent and independent approach.
IS CPAP TYPICALLY LESS COSTLY ONLINE?
While the quality of CPAP equipment purchased contributes to treatment success, CPAP adherence varies significantly among providers. Rebel Sleep Institute provides extensive support throughout the life of your therapy, ensuring the most optimal treatment and support is provided. Purchasing equipment online can be less costly, however, adoption of CPAP therapy can be difficult, challenges arise, and having a quality local provider with well-trained, credentialed sleep therapists contributes to greater treatment success.
IS Rebel Sleep Institute accredited in Alberta?
Yes, Rebel Sleep Institute is fully accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) for Home Sleep Apnea Testing. The CPSA is responsible for writing medical facility standards and assessing these facilities. These standards help Albertans know that safety and quality are top priorities in Alberta's medical and diagnostic facilities. This accreditation has helped shape Rebel's comprehensive quality management program.
